How to correctly choose high temperature resistant magnets?
April 20, 2022

We all want to choose suitable and economical high temperature resistant magnets for our own use. How can we choose the right magnets?

The most important component of neodymium iron boron is rare earth neodymium (nd), and the content is also the highest. According to different brands, the content ranges from 20% - 32.5%, dysprosium and praseodymium are also important components, so the price of magnet is deeply affected by the price fluctuation of neodymium material.

Samarium cobalt magnet is characterized by strong plasticity and can withstand high temperature. NdFeB magnet can withstand the highest temperature of 200 ℃, while samarium cobalt magnet can withstand the highest temperature of 350 ℃. However, the price of samarium cobalt magnet is much more expensive than that of NdFeB magnet, and its price is mainly affected by cobalt. Therefore, it is necessary to select the appropriate high temperature resistant magnet in different working temperatures for cost control.

Affected by the working environment, the performance of the magnet will gradually change. How to choose the brand?

The n-gear NdFeB magnet will be demagnetized after the working temperature reaches 80 ℃. Therefore, in an environment with an operating temperature of more than 80 degrees, it is obvious that n-grade NdFeB magnets cannot be selected;

The NdFeB high temperature resistant magnet shall be selected between 80 ℃ and 230 ℃, and the specific grades are as follows:

-M-gear NdFeB magnet can be selected for the working temperature between 80 degrees and 100 degrees

-The working temperature between 100 degrees and 120 degrees can be h-gear NdFeB magnet

-The Nd-Fe-B magnet of SH gear can be selected for the working temperature between 120 degrees and 150 degrees

-The working temperature between 150 degrees and 180 degrees can be uh grade NdFeB magnet

-EH Nd-Fe-B magnet can be selected for the working temperature between 180 degrees and 200 degrees

-Ah Nd-Fe-B magnet can be selected for the working temperature between 200 degrees and 230 degrees

Samarium cobalt high temperature resistant magnet shall be selected between 230 ℃ and 350 ℃, and the specific grades are as follows:

-1:5 samarium cobalt can be selected for the working temperature between 230 degrees and 250 degrees

-2:17 samarium cobalt can be selected for the working temperature between 250 degrees and 350 degrees

-At present, only aluminum nickel cobalt magnets can be selected for high temperature resistant magnets with working temperature above 350 ℃.

If the amount of magnet used is relatively large, you can refer to the above data to select the appropriate magnet, but if the amount is small and you have to be resistant to high temperature, it will be more convenient to choose samarium cobalt magnet.
